Dr. Edward Taubman
started practicing in 1979 and has since attended to tens of thousands of patients in the greater Olney area.  He has repeatedly been rated by patients and physicians as “Top Doc” in Washingtonian and Checkbook Magazines.  Dr. Taubman, in addition to his expertise as a primary care physician, is also a local expert in cancer prevention. Dr. Taubman saw his patients struggling with obesity-related diseases, and he began seeking ways to help them lose unwanted pounds. He eventually found Rick Weissinger, a Nutritionist who specializes in weight management, and Psychotherapist Andrea Lopes, and is excited to provide an affordable, multidisciplinary approach to weight loss.
   
Andrea Lopes, LCSW-C, is a licensed certified social worker with over 18 years of clinical experience treating adolescents and adults. She received her Master’s in Social Work from the University of Maryland.  Andrea strongly believes in a holistic approach and incorporates insight oriented psychotherapy, cognitive/behavioral therapy, energy psychology techniques, meditation, guided imagery and relaxation techniques into her weight management practice.
   
Rick Weissinger, MS, RD,has 25 years of experience in teaching weight management to individuals and groups. His specialty is integrating knowledge of nutrition, metabolism, exercise, psychology and endocrinology into weight loss. Rick teaches patients what foods to eat, why to eat these, how to make these taste good, and which habits and attitudes need to be acquired in order to lose weight and keep it off. His books include What the Experts Say About Food and Cancer and Nutrition Guide for Clinicians.
